I had a few appointment cancellations this morning, so getting dressed was a bit more of a leisurely affair than yesterday!

I have such a soft spot for this skirt, but I don't wear it that often, because it's such a statement piece. 

The illustration on the front (and the back, for that matter) have been done by a very well-known Melbourne Street Artist known as Ghostpatrol, and I just love his work, especially the pieces like this one of feral children. It's very Where The Wild Things Are.

It's so cold in Melbourne at the moment. And dreary and grey to boot, so I'm trying really hard to stay warm without having to surrender myself to jeans and great big snuggly sweaters. Today's pro-tip? Socks!

To be honest I'd actually prefer a really thick pair of ribbed grey stockings, but I can't find some anywhere. Keep your eyes peeled!

Big, big week on the road with a visiting international author so I'm delighted to be at the start of a three day weekend.

It's Moomba Waterfest this weekend. Despite having lived in Melbourne for nigh on six and a bit years I've never been! This fact scandalises The Sophisticate who's promised me fairy-floss and corn-dogs and waterskiing displays, so we're going over the weekend.

Meanwhile, do you like my top? I broke my Frugal February drought with it, and it was a meagre $34 on sale, so my budget nazi will approve. Huzzah!

Thank heavens I took this shot this morning instead of doing my usual trick of waiting 'til the evening when I'm all footsore and rumpled. It was so humid this morning that it almost felt like I was breathing in a mist of warm water, but it was nothing compared to the soaking I got in the afternoon when the heavens opened.

White trousers may not have been the wisest choice for the day, but it's been ages since I wore them, so they almost seem new...

I ducked in Sussan on my lunch-break. Just for a, you know, browse. After all - I still have seventeen days of Frugal February to go (gah!).

Still, I could've bought the place out - they're doing a really cute nautical range at the moment that doesn't seem to be up on the website yet. I tried on a white & navy striped boatneck tee with button detail that was just the cuteness, another pair of short shorts (not as good as the City Chic pair) a stripy circle skirt and a cardigan.

Now, I think it's pretty much established that I love my frocks and skirts, but after 38 days of them I'm just delighted to be back in jeans!

I'm back in Melbourne with my Mum having a bit of a break. It's nice to be on holidays, but to also be in my own hometown (I'm usually still in Canberra at this time of year). There's a list of things as long as my arm that I want to do, but somehow it's been difficult to build up the motivation and today we managed... breakfast.

Actually, it's not entirely our fault. I discovered today - to my great surprise - that the 6th of January seems to be the magic Back-To-Work day for Melburnians. This is both good news and bad news, because on the one hand it's annoying to front up somewhere and find it closed, but on the other hand it's quite, well, relaxing.
